My Background
I grew up in a Navy family. I was born in Jacksonville, Florida and from there we moved to Nevada, Florida, Maryland, Rhode Island, Florida, Nebraska, and finally back to Florida again before I moved to Nebraska for college. Phew!
Ever since I can remember I have loved to sing. I know, cliche, right? Well it's true. My love for singing was most certainly inspired by my dad who grew up singing and always sang to my brothers and me when we were little. The first organized choir I became a part of was when I joined my grade school choir in 4th grade. From that point on, whether it be school choirs or church choirs I have never not been part of a formal singing group. Through all my years of schooling I was either in concert choir or show choir, if not both. Senior year of high school, I auditioned for the FMEA All-State choir. I was selected for the Women's choir and also selected for a solo part in one of the pieces. Sprinkled in there were also several church choirs I was simultaneously a part of, and in 10th grade I started cantoring (soloing) as well. After high school, I went off to the University of Nebraska - Lincoln to major in geology and minor in music with an emphasis on vocal performance. My freshman and sophomore year I was part of the audition-only show choir, Big Red Singers. During this time I was also fortunate to be the Director of Music at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church (UNL Newman Center) for 3 years. After graduating in December 2016, I married my wonderful husband, Jared, and we settled in West Omaha. I served two years as the Choir Director at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Gretna, and in December 2020 I took over as the Director of Liturgical Ministry. In my free-time, I enjoy singing in community choir productions such as The Messiah put on by Voices of Omaha every November. What I have ultimately learned from all of my experiences is that music is powerful. It communicates ideas and emotions in a way we don't normally get to express. It is because of this that I am passionate about providing a musical experience for you that will not only have the entertainment factor, but will also enhance the way you experience your special moments in life. |
